exist on an entirely different planet to the rest of us, in a glamorous
land of green juices, personal trainers, and perfect hair: think Kim
Kardashian, Beyoncé and Madonna.
And then there are those with whom we secretly believe we could legitimately be best friends, if we could only orchestrate meeting them IRL. Wisdom-filled national treasure Emma Thompson is one; spritely American comedy queen Mindy Kaling is another.
So we let out a cheer of delight when we heard that the pair are set to team up in a new movie.
The film, which has been written by Kaling, revolves around a venerated late-night talk show host (Thompson) whose flagging ratings are turned around when she hires her first female writer (Kaling), Variety reports.
The role of a TV writer shouldn’t be too much of a stretch for Kaling. The fearsomely accomplished comedian served as a writer on the US version of The Office, in which she also starred as Kelly Kapoor. She frequently posts photos on social media from the writers' room at The Mindy Project, the sitcom she created, writes and stars in, which is soon to enter its fifth season.
